Mar 09, 2023Boston MedFlight acquires new night vision goggles from ASU | AirMed&Rescue
US non-profit air ambulance service Boston MedFlight has announced the purchase of new E3 night vision goggles (NVG) from Aviation Specialties Unlimited (ASU)
The NVG are expected to offer major safety enhancements to Boston MedFlight’s nighttime helicopter operations, allowing the pilot to see obstacles and assure ground clearance more easily.
Additionally, the new goggles are expected to reduce eye strain and fatigue for pilots, and minimize blooming and shadowing from ground lights.
The purchase is part of the operator’s ongoing commitment to ensure the safety and wellbeing of its pilots and clinical team.“We are extremely proud of our partnership with the team at Boston MedFlight and honored to have them as an early adopter of E3,” said Dan Meyer, Vice President of Sales at ASU. “Boston MedFlight’s commitment to the health and safety of their pilots and clinicians is evident in their decision to purchase E3.”
Rick Kenin, Chief Operating Officer for Transport at Boston MedFlight, added: “This purchase is a major investment in the safety of our employees. Our team is tasked with performing lifesaving missions every day, often in challenging environments. Improved visibility and reducing the weight of their equipment allows them to focus on the critical tasks of piloting our aircraft and providing patient care.”
Boston MedFlight announced plans to buy and medically retrofit a Cessna Citation CJ4 jet and an Airbus H145 in January.
