Oct 25, 2024Oct 25, 2024

Bo Baskoro, an emerging talent in the pop, synth, and rock music scene, has released his latest single, “One of Those Nights,” accompanied by a fresh music video. Directed by Jonathan and Josh Baker (collectively called TWIN), shot by cinematographer Billy Pena, and animated by Ithyle, this video is a significant milestone as the first music video ever shot entirely in night vision. The project, produced by Nathan Edmondson and sponsored by NightVision Rentals, perfectly aligns with the song’s atmospheric and introspective vibe.

“One of Those Nights” showcases Baskoro’s distinctive sound, blending catchy pop melodies with synth-driven beats and rock influences. The track explores feelings of restlessness and insomnia while maintaining an upbeat and exploratory tone. Baskoro’s talent for crafting profoundly personal yet universally relatable songs shines through with hummable hooks and unforgettable melodies.

To create a unique visual experience, night vision technology is used in the music video. Typically employed in military and surveillance applications, night vision captures scenes in complete darkness using infrared light. The resulting grainy, ethereal imagery gives the video a dreamlike quality that pairs perfectly with the song’s themes, pulling viewers into a shadowy, late-night world where reality seems distorted.

TWIN, the directing team known for their work on the sci-fi thriller “Kin,” brings their talent for blending sci-fi elements with human emotion to Baskoro’s music video. Their bold decision to shoot entirely in night vision amplifies the song’s mood and creates a visually immersive experience.

Ithyle’s animation, on the other hand, adds a layer of fluidity and fantasy to the video, enhancing its surreal quality. The combination of live-action and animation allows the footage to transcend traditional narrative constraints and enter a more abstract, emotional space.

The video was shot over a single night in Las Vegas, NV, beginning in downtown high-rise condo and betting complexes and progressing to the desert in frigid temperatures. Baskoro’s commitment to the project is evident, as he wore nothing but pajamas throughout the shoot.

Bo Baskoro’s “One of Those Nights” music video pushes boundaries for creative expression in the music industry. The use of night vision technology, combined with live-action and animation, creates a visual narrative that complements the emotional depth of the song. This project showcases Baskoro’s musical talent and ability to collaborate with creative professionals to produce an unforgettable artistic experience.

As the first music video shot entirely in night vision, it could inspire future artists to explore new ways of visually interpreting their music.
